Andirons & Tools, Brass and Iron Urn top, American c.1800
To a rare set of American Fireplace andirons and tools. The urn finials are mounted on a square plinth. Below are tappered columns with capitals and bases. These are footed on a rectangular base having moulded tops and bottoms which in turn sits on a brass member conecting them to the legs with fancy front cutwork. The cabriole legs are mounted with fours spurs each above ball and claw feet. The set of solid brass English or American fireplace tools are of similar form.. The shovel has a pierced and engraved shovel surface. All three items have a neoclassic urn finial. The shovel bottom is fretted and engraved with a neoclassic urn and filigree. (#1909)

Fireback, cast iron, 16th Century English
To a cast iron English Fireback decorated to the front with the Royal arms and the badges of the Tudor Sovereigns similar to a model in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Note this rare survival has damage to the bottom caused by centuries of sitting in a fireplace containing wet embers which desolved the iron. A similar example is pictured in the book "English Fireplaces" by Alison Kelly c.1968 p.26 and rear of dustjacket. (#1912)

Pediment, triangular, in 3 pieces Terra Cotta early 20th C.
To a fine quality terra cotta pediment in three sections. The rich relief has a lamp with fire at the center surrounded by various filigree. The relief is quite high and the piece shows well in it's present uncleaned patina finish. Note: this architectural fittment was removed from its original installation in Philadelphia, Pa. To a fine quality cast terrra cotta 3 panel patera which was installed to the exterior of a building in Philadelphia. The 3 pieces are decorated with a swag, bowknots, flower drops and streaming ribbons. The relief is quite high and this piece could be used in a wall or inside of a home. The piece has the usual small chips and the orginal weathered patina finish. A great garden item. (#1915)

Clock, Tall Case, Folk Art, American c.1880-1900
A rare American Marquetry inlay tall case clock fitted with an 8 day time and strike movement. The fretted dial matches the fret work to the bonnet of the clock. The case is stepped, mounted with bead and reel trim, and highly inlaid with folk art motives includng animals - Lions and shields, Bacchus and filigree. A similar example, made by the same unidentified craftsman, is in the Museum of American Folk Art The secondary wood is tulip poplar. The primary wood is walnut.. The clock movement needs to be replaced. (#1923)

To a fine and rare fireplace fender decorated with left and right dog finials. The dos are seated on bronze rectangular bases mounted with filigree. Between these two are a bronze bottom rod and an iron top rod. The center of the two end can be adjusted for length. The Piece is in good condition. (#1924)

Aquarium, Cast Iron c. 1880, on Stand
To a fine and rare American cast iron aquarium.
The aquarium has a central stem to the interior with water fountain to fill the aquarium below which is glazed and caulked with new material. Above the glass are eight candle holders mounted between bars which form the aquarium bottom. It is mounted on the original naturalist base and it could be used with or without a bottom pan. This aquarium was very popular among the wealthy in the back to nature garden movement of the late 19th century. A great Cast Iron Garden item. (#1964)
