Aquarium, Cast Iron c. 1880, on Stand
To a fine and rare American cast iron aquarium. The aquarium has a central stem to the interior with water fountain to fill the aquarium below which is glazed and caulked with new material. Above the glass are eight candle holders mounted between bars which form the aquarium bottom. It is mounted on the original naturalist base and it could be used with or without a bottom pan. This aquarium was very popular among the wealthy in the back to nature garden movement of the late 19th century. A great Cast Iron Garden item.
